The History of Airsoft
The sport of airsoft was originally created in Japan, as were the original airsoft rifles/guns. One of the mains reasons for this is because in Japan, guns (especially pistols) are illegal to even own for almost everyone; and even shotguns are near impossible to own in many cases.
Because it was near impossible to even hold or own a real gun in Japan, exact, non-lethal replicas of these guns were made, which later became known of airsoft guns. These airsoft guns started to come in many shapes and forms, such as airsoft pistols, automatic electric airsoft rifles, and even airsoft sniper rifles.
Since these airsoft rifles (and pistols) could only fire non-lethal, plastic airsoft BBs, they were perfectly legal to own and operate by anyone. This is due to the fact that they are not at all capable of ever firing any real, live round, or even metal BBs or lead pellets, for that matter.
Shortly after airsoft rifles came about in Japan, the actual sport of airsoft began, which quickly became very popular in other countries, such as Europe, Great Britain, and then the United States, among other places.
At present time, the sport of airsoft is enjoyed by people of many different age groups, and among both males and females. Basically airsoft is suitable for practically anyone, whether it be child or adult, male or female. Also, many different types of airsoft games are now played, such as small free for all battles, advanced tactical group battles, and more.
Also, airsoft guns, especially the electric airsoft rifles, are used for real military and police training purposes. Many of the common airsoft rifles used for these purposes are the airsoft M4 rifle, the airsoft AK 47 airsoft gun, 9mm airsoft pistols, and even airsoft sniper rifles.
The type of gear used for airsoft is very diverse, and commonly includes things such as tactical vests, pants, boots, face masks, and much more. In this day and age, many different types of gear have become widely available, and come in many different flavors.
As far as the price goes, airsoft is generally a fairly cheap sport to get into. Much cheaper than paintball in most cases, especially when you consider how much cheaper airsoft ammo is compared to the cost of paintballs. I think it is fair to say, that all-in-all, airsoft is a fun, and fairly easy sport to learn, that can be enjoyed by virtually anyone, male or female, child or adult.
